Mutes
The mute attaches lightly to the bridge to slightly dampen the sound. This is primarly used to create a different mood of music although there are some mutes used to make the volume softer for in-home practice.
Standard Mute
Most commonly used, designed to slightly dampen sound to fit a specific style.
Metal Practice Mute
Solid metal and should be used with care, designed to heavily mute the sound for practicing in homes with families or out and about.
Rubber Practice Mute
Softer than a metal mute, but still designed to significantly dampen the sound to allow practice in all environments.
Wire Mute
Most commonly used in place of a standard mute but does produce a slightly more metallic sound
